Default New book: Obama said that Mayor Pete couldn’t win because he was too gay and short

Obama said he liked Buttigieg, a rising talent who’d worked on his own campaign. But despite his affinity for the South Bend mayor, he rattled off a list of reasons why Buttigieg couldn’t win.

“He’s thirty- eight,” Obama said, pausing for dramatic effect, “but he looks thirty.” The audience laughed.

“He’s the mayor of a small town,” the former president continued. “He’s gay,” Obama said, “and he’s short.” More laughter.

Only months earlier, Buttigieg had sat in Obama’s post presidential office in Washington seeking counsel on how to maintain equanimity in the face of homophobia on the campaign trail.

Now, behind his back, Obama was riffing on him to some of the wealthiest Black men in America at a time when Buttigieg had been dubbed “Mayo Pete” by critics who believed he couldn’t connect with African American voters.

So, Obama was right as usual.

What's wrong with being right about things?

Unlike snowflake right-wing ass wipes, Mayor Pete probably has a sense of humor about it and takes these little jibes as not only being meant in a friendly way, but also as being truthful.

There are certain realities in politics.

    Nothing wrong with acknowledging them.

Is there a link for this? I doubt Obama said anything about him being “too gay” even if he believed it,
AMERICAN HISTORY ITSELF IS A TESTAMENT TO THE STRENGTH AND RESILIENCE OF AFRICAN PEOPLE. WE, ALONG WITH THE COURGE AND SACRIFICES OF CONSCIOUS WHITE AMERICANS, LIKE VIOLA LIUZZO, EVERETT DIRKSEN, AND MANY OTHERS, HAVE FOUGHT AND DIED TOGETHER FOR OUR FREEDOM, AND FOR OUR SURVIVAL.

In America, rights are are not determined by what is just, fair, equitable, honest, nor by what Jesus would do. Rights are determined ONLY by what you can DEMAND.

The anonymous coward obscured the reference. The quote is from the book linked but the quote is not in the link. It can be seen by Googling the words.

BTW, look at the reviews in the link. LOL

Example: Another incompetent & unsurprisingly biased read. A conservative attempt to cash? ????? These authors are not conservatives - they are unabashed money-grubbing lunatics, aching to jones-on their moronic HATE for Trump & add to the .. Plague of Madness that afflicted liberals of this era.

Do bad reviews and ad hominems against the authors prove that Obama didn't say that Peter Puffer couldn’t win because he was too gay and short?

    Yep, he’s spot on there.

Homophobes abound and there’s no getting their vote no matter all other qualifications.

Legion - you're a spineless coward and a fool. Try pulling your head out of your ass and manning up some day. When you do, you'll start to earn respect.

The reason I usually avoid your gutless Anonymous threads is because cowardice shouldn't be rewarded. In this case, I was curious about the source.

Curiosity satisfied and the knowledge you are a lying coward reaffirmed. LOL

Now go back to what you usually do:

God bless America and those who defend our Constitution.
