The White House on Thursday sidestepped questions asking if President Joe Biden was doing anything to curb rising gas prices, as those in the industry warn motorists might face $3 per gallon in a matter of weeks.

A reporter at the daily briefing asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki if Biden was planning to intervene on the rising prices.

GasBuddy, which tracks fuel prices, warned today that the national average “may breach $3 per gallon by Memorial Day. GasBuddy noted that that large cuts to oil production “will generally be extended.”

“I don’t have anything on that to preview for you,” Psaki responded to the reporter.

The XL would run through Baker, Montana, where American-produced light crude oil from the Williston Basin (Bakken formation) of Montana and North Dakota would be added to the Keystone's throughput of synthetic crude oil (syncrude) and diluted bitumen (dilbit) from the oil sands of Canada. The first three phases of the Keystone project are already up and running, XL is the final stage.
