But the latest COVID-19 data on the Johns Hopkins COVID Tracking Project shows right now the positivity rate in Texas is at 13.5%. That percentage is higher than what it was on Oct. 7, when Abbott issued his COVID-19 restrictions orders. The seven-day average of deaths per day is at 227, which is a 91% increase from Oct. 7.

I am not required to accept the premise of your question, which boils down to this:
Anonymous message board poster Darth Omar claims that national and international medical experts have massively over estimated the number of COVID-related deaths.
The premise behind your question does not even remotely pass the laugh test.
Meanwhile, it has been eleven months since you were having a good time chuckling it up about only 61 deaths -- and you have yet to confess how catastrophically you downplayed the threat of this virus.

no, little chickenshit, science is not on your side, fool, or democrats would not be laughing at your stupid fuck trump-like ass. get it? how do you think we, and other states who had mask mandates and realistic covid mandates designed to bring down infection rates, got to these rates- by opening everything up and not mandating masks? look at the graph below....Texas has shown great progress, from how high it was just a while back....but it just recently started to rise...in many categories...and even now, at a low rate compared to a month ago or so, or two months, it is still about where it was at the height of the first real covid breakout during the summer.....we are now back to where it was when Abbott said we had to stop this virus back in the summer!!
On March 2, when Abbott said everything was coolio now, nothing to worry about, Texas new case count was 7747. On July 2, the day Abbott said we had to wear masks to stop the covid spread- the new case count was 7434, lower than when he SIGNED THE MASK MANDATE!!

Random debate board users are incapable of creating a catastrophe.
What has been catastrophic has been some/many of the policy responses to the CCP Virus. Kids are going to pay terrible price for the *misguided* school closures where science was thrown out the window by the teachers unions as many politicians stood by and watched —-for just one example.
Trump had the balls to call it immoral at his CPAC speech.
Many small businesses were lost *needlessly* because of similar misguided policy. But the Uber wealthy became more Uber wealthy, so all was well. Medical Treatments were delayed *at the cost of lives* because of similar misguided policies. And on and on. It’s about time someone put a stop to it.
But 61.

Yeup, we here in Texas are going to pay a price for this stupidity. Testing is way down so they really have no grasp on how many are walking around it it, with the new variants spreading fast the hospitals will start to overflow again and the front line works will be back in the thick of it. The entire medical community down here is appalled, and many county judges are extremely unhappy that Abbott has basically thrown their counties back into the fire. Give it a few weeks and everyone will see what opening up during a pandemic gets you. Thankfully for myself I get my first shot tomorrow and the second in the first week of April, I wonder how many of my fellow Texas will be dead or dying by then. Abbott better hope like hell this works out well, when it doesn't his job as Governor will be over.

COVID FACTS
The underlying cause of death is the condition that began the chain of events that ultimately led to the person’s death,” Dr. Robert Anderson, who oversees the CDC’s death statistics work, said in a statement. “In 92% of all deaths that mention COVID-19, COVID-19 is listed as the underlying cause of death.”

Understanding the total death toll of the current pandemic requires measuring what’s called “excess all-cause mortality,” which provides an estimate of the additional number of deaths from any cause — not just from COVID-19 infections — beyond what is normally expected during a given period.
This measure includes people who died from COVID-19 and people who died for other reasons related to the pandemic.
