Do your own research by going to the website that compares the rates for those who are about to sign up for Electricity Contracts in Texas, and you won't see any fixed rates cheaper than the American Average.

These rates you speak of are not guaranteed rates- Those are the variable starting rates you are referring to, and they are not guaranteed and can fluctuate as up to 1,000% higher as what is quoted from month-to-month- BUT YET NEVER LOWER!

I changed that post....I had gone to an inferior site. Look, a lot of places in Texas dont offer flex rates, I am not in favor of them being offered but if they are it is up to the buyer to know what they are buying. That is the up front deal with flex rates, you never know how you are going to turn out, if you sign up for one you are gambling. If you gamble and lose I dont have any sympathy for you.

As an aside: My brother tells me that CPS is baiming the grid operator for the power outages (my brother did a 7 hour and a 10 hour) even as their generation capacity has been shrinking as the population rises...they canceled a NUKE plant and took out I think he said two coal plants.

This is what happened in California back in the early 2000's. Exact same thing, only California went further. Producers there were not allowed to sell retail, only to wholesale middlemen. The result was the same too, only it went on for months, then years. It's how ENRON got filthy rich before tanking from internal corruption.

Republican opposition to sensible government is merely a ruse to cover up to subservience to the powerful.

Because it wouldn't play well in the sound byte media to simply say they are covering for billionaires.

A Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red

    Dear Red-State Trump Voter,
Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.

It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.

This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.

Example: President Obama virtually ignored Occupy; and nobody faced any charges for the Great Recession, even after the massive public outcry.

President Biden is beholden to big banks.

It is up to we the people to tell our politicians who they answer to.

Apathy is the big problem here.

There are two kinds of political power: Big money and a groundswell of public support for a cause.

Either will put politicians into office and keep them there.

But it takes SO MUCH public support for a politician to take on the big money elites it is daunting.

Look at all the millions of people Bernie has, but still it is not enough to go up against the big money establishment.

It needs to be even more than that.

    It can be done.

We just have to get the word out for more people to get informed and get involved. LOTS more.

a new analysis by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has found that the deregulation and monopolization of the Texas energy market cost Texas residents $28 billion more than they would have paid under a traditional utility.
The magic of the free markets at work.

I will take a well managed and regulated public utility.

Capitalism is a great system for producing consumer products. But the public welfare, the public infrastructure, and the public commons should really not be at the mercy of the profit motive.

Texas is in the process of learning that they actually have to have a government.

It's not working very well for them without one.

    Perhaps.

From what I remember, they are still one of the few remaining states to not accept the Obamacare Medicaid expansion (they really stuck it to the libs). So I believe they will remain a minimalist state government for the foreseeable future.

It's the QOP's dream for all of America to be as slipshod and unregulated as TX. Thankfully we have enough intelligent ppl to stop them.

Good point. I do not begrudge doctors and dentists having private practices, and I do not mind insurance companies providing supplementary insurance - but a good universal baseline public health insurance for everyone makes eminent sense
