Agreed in general. Specifically, Trump has lost most of his ground with the Republican leadership. Threatening to kill the VP and most of Congress was certainly a major reality check for them. Among most Trump voters, he's also losing ground. What Trump does or says at CPAC may see that trend level off or continue to drop. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...able-5493.html
That said, just as both Bill and Hillary have fans who believe the Clintons can do no wrong, there will always be those who feel the same about Trump. In the end, like the Clintons, Trump will cease to be an influence on American politics.

Care to wager on the outcome of multiple trials that this was more than a "riot"?
What is the difference, in your opinion, between a riot and an insurrection? IMO, a riot is simply a violent protest. No more. An insurrection is an attempt to overthrow the current government. Specifically, to overturn the results of the election and kill off opposing leadership including the Vice President.

Sure. Given that the charges are known, and that of the several hundred charged right now:
None were charged with insurrection, terrorism, or anything like that.
The most common charges are trespass, property damage, and disorderly conduct.
There have been a handful of weapons charges and the number of firearms charges can be counted on the fingers of one hand with some left over.
Conspiracy is getting added to many people's charges. I personally think--and have long thought--that this "crime" is incredibly wrong within the law. That the authorities can charge you for want amounts to a "Thought crime" is horribly wrong.
Here's a full list of who's been charged and for what. It runs 34 pages right now.

So, I'll win that bet.
A riot is disorderly conduct by a crowd of people with property damage and trespass. An insurrection is a concerted attempt to take over the reigns of government. Since the whole thing lasted an afternoon and Congress went back to work the next day, it clearly wasn't an insurrection.

Good luck getting an answer to that question, I have asked several times and none have ventured to reply with an answer.
There was only one goal, just like the goal of the House Reps and some Senators, overturn an legal election and turn the US into a Dictatorship, there simply is no other answer. Heck trump was calling people that were hiding in the Capital in fear for their lives and trying to get them to overturn the election. The members of Congress involved can hide behind "procedure", those that invaded the Capital are on their own now, some even know it now.
