There was only one goal, just like the goal of the House Reps and some Senators, overturn an legal election and turn the US into a Dictatorship, there simply is no other answer. Heck trump was calling people that were hiding in the Capital in fear for their lives and trying to get them to overturn the election. The members of Congress involved can hide behind "procedure", those that invaded the Capital are on their own now, some even know it now.
I think "hang Mike Pence" pretty much summarizes what the goal was.

Pence is back to sucking up to Trump, man, that’s some dissonance.

There have been a handful of weapons charges and the number of firearms charges can be counted on the fingers of one hand with some left over.
Conspiracy is getting added to many people's charges. I personally think--and have long thought--that this "crime" is incredibly wrong within the law. That the authorities can charge you for want amounts to a "Thought crime" is horribly wrong.

Here's a full list of who's been charged and for what. It runs 34 pages right now.

    So, I'll win that bet.

A riot is disorderly conduct by a crowd of people with property damage and trespass. An insurrection is a concerted attempt to take over the reigns of government. Since the whole thing lasted an afternoon and Congress went back to work the next day, it clearly wasn't an insurrection.
Nothing has been won yet since the investigations are in progress. Do you understand this point?

Agreed on the definitions. Disagreed that just because it failed that it wasn't an insurrection, but I'm content to wait for all the trials, the plea deals and sworn testimony on the planning, who organized the insurrection and what their goals were on January 6th.

Also, prosecutors can add more charges at any time.

Now that we nearly have a confirmed and sworn-in AG, I expect many more federal charges to be added, like terrorism and insurrection.

Agreed. There was a plan, the plan was enacted and it ultimately failed. People don't get a pass on a bank robbery or murder just because it failed. Same goes for Insurrectionists.

As the link from Gardner points out, several arrests of insurrectionists have already been made. Mostly because they were "useful idiots" so delusional they posted the evidence on Facebook. The actual planners are not so stupid but will be revealed by the testimony of the useful idiots as investigators work their way up the chain just like the DEA starts with the dealers and works their way up to the leader of the cartel.

I laughed at the guy who just had to text his girlfriend that she’s a moron while he was at the Capitol and she turned him in to the FBI.

Disagreed that anyone who did their civic duty and happened to vote for Trump "are beyond disgusting." Most people vote for the "D" or the "R".

There are many people who were disgusted by Hillary's corruption but held their nose and voted for her anyway because she was the Democratic nominee. Same goes for Trump voters. Due to the binary nature of America's two-party system, those are the two most viable options.

Third party voters like myself are much rarer as the stats bear out. Worse, much worse IMO, are those who don't vote at all. About 40% on average, although the 2020 election saw that number drop.

Do you really consider a person who voted for the "R" to be more disgusting than a person who never votes at all?

What other R was on the ballot? Are you seriously advocating Americans be forced to vote for the "D" or stay home rather than be labeled "beyond disgusting" by irate authoritarian Democrats?

I am saying that I have a hell of a lot more respect for people who DID NOT VOTE than for people who voted for Trump.

You may not like that opinion.

I do not much give a shit if you do or don't.

Disrespect and labeling people disgusting is the Democratic way, so I can see why you feel that way.

Of course you don't give a shit anyone who disagrees with you. That's my whole point.
