Default Cruz had the ultimate excuse, but he had so much arrogance that he refused to use it

Cruz wanted out of Texas. I don't blame him. Even in the best of times, it is not all that great, but it was completely shutdown in a disaster.

And he was desperately needed in DC. Texas politicians needed to get funding to help Texas through this disaster, and try to avoid having this happen again. Biden sent planes to get Texas members of Congress to DC, so they could work towards solving these problems.

But Cruz was too arrogant. DC is not much fun, but Cancun is very fun. So he grabbed his college roommate, and several other party goers... Then as an afterthought his children who he later blamed for the trip... And off to Mexico he went.

    His motivations are painfully obvious.

He is not dedicated to serving Texas, but himself.

That he expected to get away with it... It is just an insane level of arrogance.

Some of those politicians seem to be totally unaware of how they are perceived by the public.

The "good Christian" Ted Cruz shot himself in the foot by repeatedly lying his fat ass off about the nature and intent of his tropical beach getaway.

The relentless lying is what makes the story so funny.

I find a lot of people are getting very angry about not being able to take a vacation. Even people who never go to a Pacific resort, always dream they might one day. The Covid-19 has killed that dream for the time being.

And then we see Cruz going on a tropical getaway, and we get mad. It is especially bad that he did it when his state needed him the most. I do not think people realize how many voters are going to be angry at Cruz. He has four years to try to get voters to forget, but I do not think it will be enough time.

I think this is one of the pitfalls of privilege. The feeling of entitlement becomes ever more audacious until empathy is simply no longer possible.

    Beto rising.

    Keep it up, Ted.

People are seeing what you did with their votes.

    Cruz is unbelievably entitled.

2022 and then 2024 are looking like good years for Democrats. There is some time for Republicans to turn things around... But they have to stop going on vacations that the rest of us are banned from.

I think he could have blunted some of the resentment if he had been a grown adult, admitted to planning his tropical extravaganza, genuinely apologized for being stupid and self centered, and redoubled his efforts to get government socialism and charitable relief to kick in.

What makes it all unforgivable is he tried to blame his daughters, kept changing his story, and kept blatantly lying about the nature and intent of his tropical escape.
