His comment about affirmative action is interesting from this perspective. California had a ballot measure, Prop 16, in 2020 to reinstitute AA. Stating the obvious, California was the leader of the 'resistance'. This is a state Biden won by some 30%. Yet the ballot measure didn't pass. And it wasn't all that close. In a state that Democrats dominate and white people make up only half the population.
I know A.A. is only a part of a potential reparations package but if its not going to fly in Cali, it could potentially make for a tough sell elsewhere.

Personally I liked to see Obama in that tan suit.
SO much hatred for Obama and it was all just pure WHITE SUPREMACIST HATRED OF ALL BLACK PEOPLE!
It didn't matter whether it was Obama or any other Black man, it was just pure WHITE hatred expressed towards the BLACK MAN IN GENERAL.
I am a progressive liberal who honestly doesn't get the reparations thing.
I understand and believe that our African American citizens have been wronged and in many instances continue to be wronged, but there's no possible way to justly arrange for reparations.
We should focus our energy on fixing what's wrong and spend our money on strengthening the social safety net for everybody.
I favor the color blind approach to the affirmative action approach, because that's where we should have started before we started importing slaves.
Slavery isn't a wrong that can be corrected in less than a millennium. The sin is too great. The resentment is too justified. It can't be scraped off. It must wear away in the environment of better conditions, and that takes time.
The people who yell the loudest against reparations, ironically, are also among the people that I loathe the most.
So as with most things on this pigshit planet, there's no really good answer.
I vehemently disagree with TTQ64 as I'm adamantly opposed to doing away with ANY unions.
We can't make a special exception for police.
Unions are what protect workers from exploitation.
They're a shield, not a sword, with the latter only occurring with badly negotiated contracts.
I have a degree in labor relations. I know how this shit goes down.
The employer gives away shit that's cheap to give away, even if it's unjustified or wrong, in exchange for more expensive demands that should have been met.
That's one reason I favor socialized medicine. Take healthcare out of labor negotiations. That's what civilized nations do.
I would change the wording from Death Penalty to Expedient Civil Exclusion but use it more often, not less.
A prison sentence of longer than, say three years, is less humane than life termination.
If somewhat can't be rehabbed in three years they should be humanely euthanized.
They're crazy, so we shouldn't punitively execute people for being sick, but we can humanely execute them as
we would a terminally sick pet. It's just the right thing to do, and it isn't horrific torture like the present lethal injection procedure used in prisons.
There's no progressive on this forum who gets called a racist more than I do, even though it's the last thing that I'd want to be,
so I'll probably get it from both sides as to this post.
