NBC News was roasted for publishing an "absurd botched hit piece" that criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ coronavirus vaccination plan for prioritizing senior citizens, such as Holocaust survivors and veterans, because they might be Republican voters.

I don't know if we will have the time to hear every seniors life story and decide whether they are worthy of a vaccine or not. For instance, what about a senior who went into hiding during the Holocaust, but was not in a concentration camp? Should we ask how close the Gestapo came to finding them? I have relatives by marriage that had to flee Europe, they lost a lot of stuff, but kept their lives. Is that enough of a Holocaust survivor?

Veterans? Wartime, or peacetime? How about people who served in the National Guard to avoid serving in Vietnam?

What about WWII veterans who served in foreign militaries? I have a great uncle who served in the Canadian Army, because the US had not declared war yet. Does he count?

DeSantis is trying to guess who has a greater claim to life. That is a dangerous game to play. Maybe he should leave this to the experts?
