Default Trump’s lawyers quit after he refused to pay $3M in legal fees despite raising $170M

"Fees — not just strategy — blew up Trump's legal team"

"Disagreements over legal strategy weren't the only reason Donald Trump's defense team collapsed just days before his second impeachment trial"

"The notoriously stingy former president and his lead lawyer, Butch Bowers, wrangled over compensation during a series of tense phone calls, sources familiar with their conversations said. The argument came even though Trump has raised over $170 million from the public that could be used on his legal defenses."

"He was said to be livid when Bowers came back to him with a total budget of $3 million. Trump called the South Carolina attorney and eventually negotiated him down to $1 million. All of this infuriated Trump"

"In the end, the money dispute added to frustrations Bowers and the other lawyers felt about whether the former president's claims of election fraud should be central to their arguments."

Pretty funny, Trump’s lawyers quit after he refused to pay $3M in legal fees despite raising $170, guess that "makes him smart," now he is stuck with the B team, "the art of the deal."

Now what do you think happens to the other $169 Trump's lemmings gave him for his legal fees?

How could they have run up $3 million in fees in a week?

Deadbeat Trump has a history of not paying his lawyers, as well as building contractors, so these lawyer probably wanted their money up front.

Steak dinner (with ketchup) at Mar Lago. or 170 million hamberders.

Most of it was compensation for moral illness.

Actually I now see that they told Trump they wanted to run up the fees to $3 million, which is outrageous because Trump is doing the deciding, there is not that much work to be done here, they would be doing not much work at all.

Trump does not put up with price gouging.

Not what they run up, but the cost of their services, which Trump, having raised 170 million from Trumpkins specifically for his legal fees, tried to "renegotiate" down to one million, so they booked, and now Trump is stuck with his JV team

They didn't run up anything, that was their proposal, keep in mind, Trump had to work to find this legal team, and Trump isn't an authority on legalities nor is he going to be present on the Senate floor

And your are partially right, Trump doesn't put up with costs, he often litigates contracts after the fact or just stiffs those who work for him

Also dumb as dirt if he still thought he could use "election fraud" as the centerpiece of his defense.

Fortunately for him he doesn't really need a defense. Most of those GOP senators would acquit Caligula if he had Trump's base of dupes.

True, ain't a whole lot of "Profiles in Courage" on the right, but with a weak defense, the Democrats will be relatively unchallenged to create a portrait of Trump that will leave little doubt on live TV for all Americans to see

Yes. Americans will once again see the grandstanding, self flattery and complete lack of evidence to back anything up. A typical democrat clown show cluster fuck. I cannot wait.

Trump wouldn’t even pay the grave digger, Giuliani, for his lobotomized “sevrvices”

Yeah right, just playing all the video captured inside the Capitol collated with Trump's own words is going to create a hell of an image for America to see
