It's a matter of calculated risk. A parachutist jumping out of an airplane with no training would have a higher risk of death or permanent injury than someone who did have training. Mostly in matters of malfunctions. Pulling a ripcord is easy enough but what about the landing? What if the pin sticks or the parachute tangles.

Training minimizes risk. Learning from others minimizes risk. All, of course, with the same goal of enjoying the adrenaline rush. Have you ever been downhill skiing? Bombing down the moguls on an expert slope? One little fuck up can see you headed for the trees and win a free trip down by mountain by ski patrol.

I have adrenal fatigue, so I tend towards risk aversion. im burnt the fuck out.

    that's why I'm a keyboard warrior!

I fell off my bike a couple months ago, and im a little afraid of that now.

I do get off on epic fail videos. human stupidity knows no bounds.

Cool. Take a break. touring, mountain or motorcycle? If the later,I loved riding smaller bikes (360CC) to work on base or close to work but I never took any on a highway or speeds over 45. Too many fucking idiots out there. I had a head-over-heels crash because some asshole oldman pulled in from of me, but it was only about 15-20MPH. Gloves, helmet and boots saved me from a trip to the hospital.

Possibly. IMO, he was a ringleader, the Feds knew something was planned and they had a warrant on him. If he gets off easy, he was an FBI informant. If he goes away for conspiracy, then he wasn't.

That's still do it. I've cracked my ribs a few times. The last time was over 25 years ago when I had a few days off and spent it at my girlfriend's in Key West. It was the Fourth of July and the city put on a fireworks show over the bay. Rather than fight the mob on the pier, I went to the top of the tallest building in Key West, the La Concha hotel, and watch it there. By that time of day I was already pretty drunk but was fine to ride my single-speed beach bike the mile or so to the hotel. I brought a flask and sipped on it while watching the fireworks. A few others were there too. Heading for home I realized my steering ability was heavily impaired eventually resulting in a head on with a row of trash cans. It hurt so bad I didn't bother to pick them up, just picked up my bike and walked it the rest of the way to the house.

If you've never cracked ribs, you know it's nearly impossible to do anything with your torso. Not much to do about them either for several weeks.
