trump's private jet is old and in storage. It is 29 years old, and trump is the fourth owner. Jets are not exactly like cars, but that is pretty good analogy. Imagine a 29 year old car, that you are the fourth owner of, that has been sitting unstarted for four years. It is going to take a lot of work to get it workable, and is probably not worth that work.

But couldn't trump buy a new jet? trump was always towards the bottom of the private jet set, and he is in some real financial trouble now. It would be difficult to get together the money for a jet, and if he did, his creditors might force him into receivership.

For someone who is used to owning the plane, it is hard to adjust to renting one... Or heaven forbid travel on a regular commercial plane.

You are correct that he could flee the country right now. I would expect him to first claim to be going to Scotland, and then to move on to Russia. Whether he stays there, or move on, would be his choice.
