Default Senate Strikes Deal to Delay Trump’s Impeachment Trial for 2 Weeks

Senate leaders struck a deal on Friday to delay former President Donald J. Trump’s impeachment trial for two weeks, giving President Biden time to install his cabinet and begin moving a legislative agenda before they begin a historic proceeding to try his predecessor for “incitement of insurrection.”

The House still plans to deliver its impeachment charge at 7 p.m. Monday evening and senators will be sworn in for the trial the following day. But Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader, said the chamber would then pause until the week of Feb. 8 to give the prosecution and defense time to draft and exchange written legal briefs.

Default Senate ends standoff, agrees to start Trump’s impeachment trial Feb. 9

The agreement was made by Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) following a standoff over the timing of the trial, which could permanently bar Trump from holding public office.

I thought it was a big hurry so what’s up with the hurry up and wait? Democrats trying to give the country whiplash?

Some of us would like to see a real senate trial where it’s proven [over the course of forty days like a real Senate trial and not one of these hurry up rush-jobs] whether Trump was lying, where every affected state legislature has a chance to show their evidence of fraud to the country. None of these same-day snap rulings by the courts.

Since that’s the way they do senate trials in non-Banana Republics. Let the people see the evidence presented, slowly, on national media and allow the people to decide along with the Senate who is lying.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

Dems are making a fool of themselves. Impeaching a FORMER president!!! If they do have a trial the truth will come out that trump did not incite a riot. He merely told his supporters to "fight like hell".

Yes, a trial is where you present evidence. Like what Mitch McConnell prevented from happening before.

Exactly. Mitch knew trump was going to present devastating evidence that the election was stolen so he colluded with dems to stage the false flag invasion of the capitol building and blame it on trump!!
