Older articles but the Dems rehabilitation of war criminal Dubya is currently on overdrive.
One poor tactic many Democrats have resorted to is comparing Trump unfavorably to the previous Republican president, George W. Bush. Most recently, when Trump immediately blamed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) for the truck attack in New York City on Tuesday, because Schumer supported the green card immigration lottery, Schumer reached for the Bush comparison:

BLUEXITA Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red
Dear Red-State Trump Voter,
Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.
It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.
This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.

Many DEMOCRATS have selective memories regarding what they said about Bush, and they're stupid enough to believe that other people are afflicted with their situation amnesia.
Bush isn't a war criminal.
Hanging my head as I say this, but I really like George Bush. I say that even though nearly every night my daughter spent in Iraq was a nightmare for me, cold sweats and all.
I hated Bush then. But one day while doing some research on PEPFAR, the plan that Bush put forward to reduce AIDS in Africa, I discovered an entirely different George Bush. A kind and caring George Bush. A man who said that he would do something serious about AIDS in Africa and he was determined to do it. He’s saved millions of Africans and both he and his wife are considered “Africa’s best friends”
I apologize for my heart, but I am swept by them both.
Had my daughter been killed or seriously injured in Iraq, I doubt I would eel this way.
Lord forgive me.

You are entitled to your feelings but sadly, he did lie the USA into a war and other parents were not as fortunate as you. Maybe his attention to the AIDS issue was his way to repent but....
Biden voted for that war and now he is lying about it so are any of them in their above the law exclusive club worth the powder to blow them to hell?

I have to agree with that. Though Trump was an embarrasment and extremely divisive and threatened our democratic institutions much of the events that have led up to the right wing radicalization can be dropped on W's door step. In particular I'm referring to the 2008 financial crises. W made some of the worst foreign and domestic policies decisions in US history that we are still feeling the consequences of. No W...and probably no Trump.
Time will tell. Most of Trumps policy legacies are being undone remarkably rapidly and if his attack on our domestic institutions come to nothing in the long run than you could make a legitimate argument that Bush was a worse President.
Having said that I don't feel the antipathy towards W that I feel for Trump. I feel that W got in over his head and was mislead by ideologues and made some really bad decisions. But I wouldn't have problems having a beer with the man.
Trump I definately feel antipathy for. The scary part is that if the Covid Pandemic and the Social unrest of last summer had not occurred Trump more than likely would have been re-elected.

W. may have led to Trump but for different reasons than you claim. This isn't all Trump supporters but listen to some of them, they'll say W was a p*ssy. That the media and liberals sh*t all over him and he never fought back. Look at W's language towards Muslims post 9/11, to immigrants etc. He wasn't a bomb thrower. He didn't use incendiary language. Yet he was still called a racist and everything else, and as the argument goes, did nothing to defend himself. Enter Trump...
I'm with ya on this one. I remember well Cheney's puppet fucking up the ME and getting hundreds of thousands of people killed, tax-cuts for the rich TWICE, and a never ending Trump like lie-fest...endless 'WMDs!", fuckin catastrophe
I completely agree with you which is why I feel guilty about how I feel about them. To make that even worse I am fiercely antiwar, which is why I’ve never been able to forgive Obama for what he did in Libya. I imagine it’s time to deal with Obama’s horrors as well. Again, please forgive my heart.

i never had any issue with W personally. I do not doubt he had good intentions and though I didn’t vote for him I didn’t agree with his regressive tax cuts or NCLB and those were were mostly philosophical. My major parting of the way with Bush and the GOP was the immoral war in Iraq. I can remember all the names I was called back then. Traitor, disloyal, unAmerican, etc., yet virtually every prediction I made came true. I had stopped paying dues as a party member in 1998 in opposition to the Clinton impeachment which I thought was a partisan witch hunt and set a terrible precedent and I felt the same about the first Trump impeachment. Both stoked the flames of division and neither demonstrated that the alleged offenses rose to the Constitutional definition of an impeachable high crime or misdemeanor.
But the run up to and invasion of Iraq was a bridge to far. I had major concerns about Republicans throwing red meat to the red neck populist right wing of the party as I felt, and has been proven, there is no polity less competent to govern this nation than the Bubba coalition. There is still much of traditional Republicanism I still agree with but the Southern strategy has gone to such an illogical extreme that I can no longer support the GOP until they drive a stake through the heart of red neck populism.
Don’t get me wrong there is much I dislike about the far left of the Democratic Party but the far left is vastly smaller and not nearly as influential as the Bubba coalition is. Nor are the far left even close to being as aggressive and violent as the far right. Now after Trump I have serious concerns about the long term viability of the GOP.
I do intend though to keep my voter registration as Republican so I can do my little bit to return the GOP to some semblance of sanity and moderation during primaries but I don’t see myself polling Republican in general elections unless it’s a situation where the Democratic candidate proves to be very inept or incompetent.
