Parents outraged over student’s Confederate flag face mask demand action

Parents are demanding action from administrators at a Missouri high school after a senior wore a Confederate flag face mask to school.

One parent said the student showed up at Oakville High School wearing the Confederate flag mask and was allowed to continue through his school day.

“So what type of message are you sending to my child by allowing another child to sit in the classroom with this mask on,” asked Tamica Harding.


“Harding said her daughter was in the same class, hurt, frightened and intimidated.”

Did he get it at a local carnival? LOL! I remember I won a Confederate Flag muscle shirt at a carnival, and I sported that thing until it fell apart.

Did not take long, probably 3-4 mos, it was cheap AF..also I used to use too much laundry soap.

Schools don't allow a lot of things. They didn't allow explicit CDs but the last teacher that tried to take them didn't fair well. Trying to take music from a metalhead like me would have been like trying to take a cub from a mother bear. I think the teacher figured that when I got defensive and they just told me not to go showing them around. They also didn't accept the Crown Royal cloth baggie I carried change in.

How hilarious. My niece and nephew grew up in Oakville. They went to the Catholic schools there, then graduated from the Mehlville H.S. (Oakville). Before we moved here in 2016 we lived just a few suburbs/miles away. It is a far southern part of St. Louis County. It's mostly populated by middle to upper class, mostly white professionals. Nope, not liberal at all. Mostly Roman Catholic and Protestant by religion, politically conservative.
