But, hybrid Socialism has achieved great results.

China in the modern era.
Japan after WW2.
The Spanish Miracle.
National Socialist Germany.

Each of these hybrid Socialist regimes beat all USA presidents of the past 100+ years in economic growth.

But a few clarifications: Between 1946 and 1952, Washington invested $2.2 billion — or $18 billion in real 21st-century dollars adjusted for inflation — in Japan’s reconstruction effort. I don't know if you could call it a "socialist" country today, but it does have socialist traits.

China is and has been a communist country...a bit different from "socialist' countries. More to the point, China's communism under Mao was more of a dictatorship...after him more of their version of communism.

Since his definition is basically a meaningless buzzword used as an insult, I'll offer this one, and a few others:

Socialism is theft of wealth.
Fascism is socialism via government interference of markets. Examples exist in Nazi Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, several European nations, etc.
Communism is socialism via government ownership of markets. Examples exist in the USSR, China, Venezuela, Cuba, etc.
Slavery is socialism via 'ownership' of people. Examples exist in the United States, Africa, Egypt, the Empire of Rome, etc.

Capitalism is the creation of wealth. No government needed. It's simply people creating wealth by themselves, for themselves and each other, and building whole societies and even huge cities out of nothing but weeds, raw materials, and initiative and drive. Examples exist in the American West, the voyage of the pilgrims and their establishing colonies in the Americas, some European nations, such as Germany's development of the chemical industry, or the United States, with the development of the automotive, firearm, and computer industries. It is the great equalizer. Anyone can play.
