Default White Christian Nationalism: The deep story behind the Capitol insurrection

End Times story based on the Book of Revelation. For most of Western history, most Christian theologians read that book in allegorical terms. The violent struggles it depicted between the forces of good and evil, they reasoned, actually represented the moral struggles that took place within the believer’s heart. But there were always some Christians who interpreted the text more literally, as a description of future events. Many Puritan radicals embraced such readings, and took them along to New England.

Trumpism is, among other things, the latest version of the WCN frame. Echoing the Promised Land story, Trump says he will “take back the country” from the outsiders and invaders who have taken control — immigrants and secularists, Muslims and Mexicans — and then restore it to its rightful owners: “real” (that is, white, Christian) Americans. Echoing the End Times story, Trump paints the world in terms of us and them, good and evil, and hints at violent struggles to come. The first such struggle took place on 6 January.

I do believe the Problem is the Christians. The 30% that feel 'Atheists' are taking over America. When they scream 'Socialist', what they really mean is 'Atheist'.
Given a choice, they would prefer a Theological Dictatorship (think Iran) over a Democracy.

Biden has thrown them a bone with his embracing his Catholic Beliefs so publicly. Hopefully that will help quell their hysteria.

Revelations is the King James version of the fairy tale.
Biden's church calls it Apocalypse, yet another stupid name.

    I call it nonsense.
We were formed as a secular republic, one that left plenty of room for improvement, no less, but instead we're getting worse..
Even the In God We Trust on coins should disappear in hurry. There's no room for that in a democracy.
Unfortunately, only Social Democrats want a democracy. Fascist Republicans want a theocracy in the guise of a republic.

What Guno is pointing out is the 30% that believe it.

It's interesting that Guno is the person that posted this, for he is similar to many of them in their Beliefs.
Guno claims he is 'secular' and that he only holds dear to his Jewish Faith because 'it's his culture'.
Guno doesn't eat pig, not because it's his 'religious belief' but because it's his 'culture'.

'Culture' (as Guno perceives it) is part of the 30% that believe they are under attack.
(I mentioned a Synagogue in New Orleans having a Crawfish Boil and Guno went berserk ... heheheheh, kinda' proved my point)

Even I feel guilty about eating pork.
A pig has no horns nor hooves as behooves a mammal that was destined by evolution to be eaten.
A pig is closer to a dog than a bovine, and many of us have dogs as members of our family.
I would have given up pork myself if I were just as principled as I'd like to be.
Good for you on the pork thing, Guno.

By the way, the Jewish chicks from Long Island that I dated in college back in the sixties all loved Chinese food. They got me hooked on it.
Most people with some sort of faith take a smorgasbord approach to their religion, and the Evangelicals are the worst of all'
They couldn't find their own asses with both hands, but they obviously discovered the Beatitudes even harder to find.

Antifa and BLM are not necessarily Christians. What they do is not in accordance with the gospel of Christ. Trump denounces Antifa and BLM. Antifa and BLM is not 'Trumpism'.

CFM often wandered into bigotry, to show someone else's bigotry.

White christian nationalism an insidious parasitic disease that has infected America

Trumpism is, among other things, the latest version of the White Christian Nationalist frame. Echoing the Promised Land story, Trump says he will “take back the country” from the outsiders and invaders who have taken control — immigrants and secularists, Muslims and Mexicans — and then restore it to its rightful owners: “real” (that is, white, Christian) Americans.
