Fake Christian? Every group of Christians believes itself to be the "true" Christians.
Back when I was a Christian, I studied early Christian writings. I came across the writings of the pagan philosopher Celsus. In the year 177 AD, he wrote:
Christians, needless to say, utterly detest one another; they slander each other constantly with the vilest forms of abuse, and cannot come to any sort of agreement in their teaching. Each sect brands its own, fills the head of its own with deceitful nonsense.
Most Christians are fake. All you have to do is look at what Christ did to know what is real Christian and just a case of holier than thou syndrome. Anyone can follow Christ but it's only those that emulate him that are following his in his footsteps. Christ didn't try to help the afflicted by judging or saying your a sinner and will burn if you don't change. He reached out a hand and led by example to teach and not correction by condemnation of them. The latter is how most the fakers handle sin.
Whatever flaws Christians of the second century had, the thing which always struck me was how Celsus paid Christianity a unintentional compliment, at least looking at it anachronisticly.
Celsus mocked Christianity as the religion of slaves, women, and the lower working class - a religion totally unworthy of Roman aristocrats and overlords.
From our perspective in the 21st century, I see it as a credit to Christianity that it appealed to the oppressed, the poor, the second class citizens of the second century Roman Empire.
I NEED, the thing to fight, because....
Let's see...
Drought...
Massive wildfires...
Plague... (aka Chinese Disease)
All we need now is a massive earthquake and tsunami...
Sounds rather biblical to me. Maybe somebody's trying to send a message here?
