Insane Level of Addiction
Every year on MLK Day I'll get a few (very pro) black friends that will write why integration was bad for black people. And while its definitely a minority opinion they'll get some support for it. The gist of the argument being black folks lost a sense of community and entrepreneurship where there were more black owned businesses and people spent their money on black owned businesses and kept it in the community. (for additional color the people arguing this often have deep Oakland roots and family ties to the Black Panthers which promoted black pride and empowerment.)
I think most recognize it's difficult to turn the hands of time and recreate the '60's, nor desire too. Additionally our country was largely white and black then as opposed to today where Hispanics are the second largest minority group and we have a growing Asian and Indian population. (not that that would prevent black communities from existing but it's just a very different landscape.) But it's an interesting argument they make.

By the way, it does change the way I looked at the man. It puts a stain on his reputation. It conflicts me, much like the Founding Fathers being slave holders. They achieved a great deal of good, but they were greatly flawed as is Dr. King. It broke my heart to learn this about him.

Trump is alleged to have raped a minor and E. Jean Carrol is waiting for his DNA. We have no idea how many affairs Trump had, but he admitted to paying for an abortion by a women claiming he impregnated her. I imagine his affairs number as high as King’s.
