Because any bailout would help unions.
The goal is for a restructuring and such to do away with the unions.
or hamstring them badly.
ie break the promises the industry has made to their workers.
Doesnt make sense to me....
First only a small portion of the financial industry is hurting.... if you look at the companies that are getting bailed out... thats about 10% of the financial sector.....
On the other hand if the Big 3 auto companies go bankrupt u can wipe out basically 2 million jobs right away....
So really the US government has got its priorities all wrong....

As one who opposed the bank bailout, I feel the same way about the bailout for the automakers.
The big 3 don't deserve a bailout. But do Americans deserve what will happen if we don't bail them out?
I'm not sure we can handle a 10% + unemployment rate right now. Even if they screw up the bailout & it's only a temporary life raft, I'd still rather see them go belly up after some of the other economic fundamentals are on an upswing, and our economy is in a stronger position in general.
About 6 manufacturing palnts in KY that supply components to the big 3 are in the process of shutting down now. Bad times ahead.
USC you are such a partisan dolt.
I'm not sure I can take your idiocy anymore. Welcome to my ignore list.
For the record, you are the only person I consider annoying enough to put on IA.
There is much to be said in favour of modern journalism. By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community.
