Biden was elected by a majority of the vote and thus only a minority of Americans won't view him as a legitimate president.

In the end, though, Trump actually was the president and we still don't know if the damage he inflicted on America will turn out to be fatal.

I agree, but Trump's army still prevented the Congress from doing their Constitutional duty, which requires January 6th. Trumps rioters tried to permanently prevent it from happening, but luckily they failed and only delayed it a few hours.
