Default The MAGA Revolution Devours Its Own

Republicans encouraged Trumpist havoc. Now it’s coming for them.

Gabriel Sterling, a Georgia election official and longtime Republican, held a news conference this week in which, with barely contained rage, he excoriated Donald Trump’s lies about voter fraud and the threats of violence those lies inspired.

He railed against Trump’s campaign lawyer, Joseph diGenova, who called for the shooting of Christopher Krebs, a federal cybersecurity official fired by Trump for saying that the election wasn’t rigged. (DiGenova later claimed he was joking.) Sterling described a “20-something tech” involved in the vote tabulation who was getting death threats.

“It has to stop!” he said, visibly seething. “Mr. President, you have not condemned these actions or this language. Senators, you have not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop.”

The next day, Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, expressed his support for Sterling. “It’s about time that more people were out there speaking with truth,” he said. His office had asked Trump to “try and quell the violent rhetoric being born out of his continuing claims of winning the states where he obviously lost,” he said, to no avail. Trump’s language, said Raffensperger, was creating a “growing threat environment for election workers who are simply doing their jobs.”

“If we have to have a choice between being dead and pitied, and being alive with a bad image, we’d rather be alive and have the bad image.”

    — Golda Meir

Let us hope the Dems pick up Senators from Georgia and take over the Senate.

Like to see it, but ain’t betting on it, keep in mind one of those races had two GOP candidates splitting the vote

Georgia is still Red, they dumped Trump, but like other areas, the local GOP didn’t meet the same fate

Going to be interesting to watch going forward, Trump is going to be a big say in the GOP, so anyone thinking of running for office is going to have to weigh if it is worth drawing Trump’s wrath. The likes of Cruz, Rubio, Haley, Cotton and others with eyes on 2024 have a difficult road to ride, who can be more Trumpish without offended the average Republican. Look for the Democrats to be portrayed as radical Chinese Communists going forward

My prediction. Dems only need one Senate win in Georgia to take majority and will do it.

Second prediction: Trump is finished in the GOP and will have no influence.

The red fear is being primaried. That is how long time respected reds have been booted out. If Trump can still primary Repugs, he will still have power, but he may be too distracted with courts to wield it.

it reminds me of the story of the lady and the snake. with republican candidates being the lady and the mob-like trump voter mentality being the snake that has a voracious appetite to destroy any and all people who are not as batshit crazy as they are and as devoted to trump. the GOP allowed these yahoos to enter their party when Obama first took office, to be unconstrained, and now they will turn on them if they show any common sense and see what a loser trump is. like the lady who fed and nourished a sick snake and after he recovered, he bit her. and she asked why did he turn on her like that, and he said you knew i was a snake when you took me in.

If democrats were doing this, threatening election officials and calling for VIOLENCE, they would be locked up and prosecuted ... and the people who don’t believe in science would be screaming at the top of their lungs for excecutions.
AMERICAN HISTORY ITSELF IS A TESTAMENT TO THE STRENGTH AND RESILIENCE OF AFRICAN PEOPLE. WE, ALONG WITH THE COURGE AND SACRIFICES OF CONSCIOUS WHITE AMERICANS, LIKE VIOLA LIUZZO, EVERETT DIRKSEN, AND MANY OTHERS, HAVE FOUGHT AND DIED TOGETHER FOR OUR FREEDOM, AND FOR OUR SURVIVAL.

In America, rights are are not determined by what is just, fair, equitable, honest, nor by what Jesus would do. Rights are determined ONLY by what you can DEMAND.

I'm reminded of the Dark Knight where the mobsters deal with the joker in order to fight against Batman, but it just backfires on them.

Trump has actually read this story during his rallies.

So glad to hear Republicans speaking up for democracy.

It is weird how Republicans belatedly become concerned about Trump's fascist posture only when their own families are in the Deplorable crossfire

NY needs to try him and put him away. This is just ridiculous that he retains the power of tweet-shaming even after losing office. And let the sentence include an order to stay off social media.
