Default Trump joins small one-term president club

Donald Trump has boasted of being an atypical leader but he's now entered a small club he will definitely not appreciate, US presidents who have lost reelection.

Since World War II, only two other presidents who sought a second term from voters have failed: Jimmy Carter and George HW Bush.

US TV networks called the race yesterday for Democrat Joe Biden despite the Republican unabashedly seizing on the power of incumbency.

Trump held rallies across the country in front of Air Force One, insisted on putting his name on the 150 million pandemic stimulus checks to Americans and delivered his Republican convention speech at the White House.

His actions sparked accusations Trump violated the Hatch Act, which restricts the use of the federal government for political activity.

Trump is the worst president the US has ever seen. Not even close.

One difference between the three one-term presidents in the last century?

Carter and GHW Bush were admirable men.

I think there were quite a few in the 19th century, but in the last 100 years only three sitting presidents have been fired by the American people prior to Trump: Herbert Hoover, Carter, Poppy Bush.

The thing which really stands out as a historic watershed moment - Trumpf is the only sitting president in the history of the United States to lose the popular vote twice

Yeah and too bad there has never been a president that failed to win the electoral college

And one of only three to be impeached.

Trumps impeachments doubled the number from two to four counts.

He's also the only president to become president without the popular vote, get impeached, and then lose reelection. Nobody else has accomplished all three.
