Okay. Since you two brought up science, let's look at the science. Science is a set of falsifiable theories. No more. No less.

The 1st law of thermodynamics states: E(t+1) = E(t)-U, where 'E' is energy, 't' is time, and 'U' is work. In other words, you cannot create energy out of nothing. You cannot increase the temperature of the Earth simply by the presence of a magick substance like CO2. You can't create energy out of nothing. It takes additional energy to raise the temperature of the Earth.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics states: e(t+1) >= e(t), where 'e' is entropy, and 't' is time. In other words, entropy MUST increase or stay the same, it can NEVER decrease...ever.
The Church of Global Warming states that CO2 is trapping energy on Earth, warming the surface and cooling the upper atmosphere. This is a decrease in entropy, which is not possible. The Church also is claiming that the surface is being heated by a colder gas in the atmosphere. You cannot heat a warmer surface using a colder gas. There is nothing magick about CO2 or any other substance. Heat ALWAYS flows from hot to cold, never the reverse.

The Stefan-Boltzmann law states: r = C*e*t^4, where 'r' is radiance (light) in watts per square area of radiating surface, 'C' is a natural constant, 'e' is a measure constant of how well the surface radiates light (or absorbs it!), and 't' is temperature in deg K. In other words, the only variables are 'r' and 't'. Everything else is a constant. If radiance goes down (due to infrared light getting 'trapped'), then temperature MUST go DOWN, not up. This law uses all frequencies of light combined. There is no frequency term. The Church of Global Warming tries to claim that there IS a frequency term (denying this law), or that there is a sequence (denying this law).

These are real theories of science, transcribed into mathematical form as equations (otherwise known as 'laws'). They cannot just be discarded. These are falsifiable theories. Each theory itself can be tested directly, to see if it's False. So far, these three theories have not been falsified.

No gas or vapor is capable of warming the Earth.
You cannot trap heat.
You cannot trap light.
You cannot trap thermal energy. There is always heat.
You cannot heat a warmer object with a colder one.

Does CO2 absorb infrared light? Sure. It absorbs certain frequencies of infrared light. It is also a substance, however, and also EMITS infrared light according to the Stefan-Boltzmann law. It cannot heat the surface. The gas is colder than the surface. All it really means is that it's just another way for the surface to heat the atmosphere, and thus be cooled (it takes energy to emit light, and that cools the emitting surface). It is no different than heating the atmosphere by conductive heating. It's just radiant heating doing the same thing.

What does heat the Earth? The Sun. The Sun is a hell of a lot hotter than the Earth, and even at this distance, radiant heating is sufficient to make temperatures on Earth nice and comfy.
Like the Sun, the Earth too radiates energy into space. This is how it's cooled. Energy is not trapped on Earth. It is only just passing by, like a coal on the edge of a campfire being heated by the fire.

There is no magick in CO2. It is not an energy source. It is not magickally capable of trapping energy, light, heat, or anything else.
