The pandemic was a generational crisis that needed Federal leadership, not fifty Governors competing against themselves, foreign nations, and even the Federal Government to obtain medical resources, as one Governor put it, it was like bidding on Craigslist for necessities. A National direction was needed, instead we got a self proclaimed “war President” not only purposely lying and downplaying to Americans about the virus but also sending mixed messages on how to deal with it.

That’s not Federalism, it’s incompetency, and Americans showed what they thought of it November 3rd

I agree with both of you and that's not contradictory. States need to run their own states, but a national crisis means they need Federal support in doing so. If Cuba attacked Florida, how many people would be correct to say "It's Florida's problem"? Certainly the pandemic has impacted the economy of the entire USA, not just the blue or the red ones.

Trump FUBAR'd the COVID response. IMO it was out of greed since 1) he knew it would be bad 2) he tried to minimize the impact on his financial empire by hiding his head in the sand and hoping it would "go away in the spring" like the flu.

Even Trump claimed he was a "wartime President" but then he dodged the responsibility of actually being a wartime President.

If Trump has made a federal mandate Blue states would have revolted more than they did.Just like Biden will find out with Red states should he try.
