    Default Get Ready for Double-Speak

Then Congress and the administration should set their sights higher. We have a long road to fixing our broken immigration system in a way that brings the country together and begins the hard work to heal our divides. But Americans of both parties and across faiths overwhelmingly
recognize the immense contributions of immigrants and support a path to legal status and eventual citizenship.

As a nation and a citizenry, we have been put on a path to isolation, blocking ourselves off from the world and each other. In times like these, it is an appealing path. But it is not sustainable. As a people, we cannot cut ourselves off from each other. We cannot cut ourselves off from the world.

DACA? Visa reform? Illegals eefusing to show up for court dates? whom?

Notice everything is an "immigrant" - who can be against immigrants? the entire country are immigrants.

so they get you warm and fuzzy, and then tell you illegals (immigrants) need a path to citizenship.
    fuck that conflation -

so move forward and heal, we need to look back. For the vast majority of us, our family’s origin story is the movement of people. Voluntarily or involuntarily, the generations who came before us endured hardships to create homes, families and opportunities on American soil. Their sacrifice and perseverance are the legacy we carry forward.

gawd damn do you ever stop being stoopid? that's a rhetorical -dont bother to answer; it's manifest

    so riddle me this:
as POTUS -Trump would have built the wall across the southern border -right?
If Congress had passed the money -is this in any doubt?
He's still building as much as he can out of DoD money.

so why would he do this if he's making money off illegal immigration?

Most people don't want to come to what is now the most diseased nation in the world. Trump took care of immigration with a wall of Covid.

A Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red

    Dear Red-State Trump Voter,
Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.

It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.

This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.

Cuz Uncle Carp said so lol?

That Trump was actually serious about controlling immigration on our southern border *was only one* of the reasons the establishment wanted rid of Trump and would literally do anything to get rid of him.

Carp: please note I said *the establishment* and not just democrats. Both Republicans and Democrats were never serious about the border for their own reasons—though granted, Democrats were more serious about not being serious about it since they saw illegal immigrants as future democrat voters.

The truth is democrats don’t really give two shits about brown immigrants so long as they can get here and vote for democrats. The brown people south of the border are mere pawns in their eyes as they seek to bring about demographic change.

Trump tried to put a stop to this perverse little game and we all got to see what they tried to do to him. Trump simply had to go.

And they won, finally. You should be happy. Since you fancy yourself as a Republican I can’t fathom why you should be happy, but yeah.

No doubt the Trumpeteers will declare that was Trump's plan all along.

Before COVID the greatest deterrent to illegal immigration in the past 30 years was the Great Recession. Not a wall, not open borders, just pure economics.

The solution IMO was always to make it illegal to hire, harbor or otherwise entice or support illegal immigration. Beef up E-verify and make it accessible to everyone from hiring nannies and gardeners to corporate employees. If the Feds began arresting employers instead of illegal employees the illegal immigration problem would largely fix itself. DACA would stay. Any who have been here for X amount of time, paid their taxes and kept their noses clean would be put on a probationary road toward citizenship. It's not quite that simple, but it's a better path than either the Democrats or Republicans have come up with.

Because it was supposed to be built right after Reagan left office and has been funded (and the funds looted) by Congress twice already before?

They should have to pay it back out of their own pockets.
