The Federal Aviation Administration has reinstated the Boeing 737 MAX’s operating certificate one year, eight months, and six days since it was rescinded on March 13th, 2019. The approval gives airlines the green light to prepare to return the type to service.

The 737 will return to the sky still being an overcrowded, dreadfully uncomfortable airplane, even if it is safe.

I can say with experience that commercial air travel was substantially more pleasant SIXTY years ago than it is today.

I have only observations, not solutions, but I truly hate flying today and never used to mind it as a young man.

I can appreciate what you are saying. I totally agree.

I think the word now is that flying is like entering into a Virus Incubator!

Looking back, just about every time I ended up with a Flu Virus or Cold- thoughout my entire adult life, it was just after landing somewhere!

It's rather extensive, and cannot be reproduced here, but some important changes include:

* software now uses two sensors, not just one for critical measurements. Either sensor failure now enters a safe mode, which disconnects the trim system and notifies the pilot.
* range of control surface movement for trim surfaces was reduced.
* some wiring harnesses were rerouted and improved to reduce chafing.
* audible and visual warning systems for trim system failure are now standard equipment.
* improved training for foreign pilots (where the crashes occurred) to better detect and properly deal with trim system failure. This also affects domestic pilots, which already have this training before ever flying a jet at all.
* emphasis placed in operation manuals that the trim system is not a critical flight system, but can affect flight safety if failure is ignored.
* improved auditing and monitoring by FAA personnel during manufacture.
* conducted entire certification application and flight tests again.
