Default How far away is herd immunity? Much further than we at first thought

Belgium and Spain were hit harder by the first wave than America, or should I say both were hit harder so far, but America's first wave continues, so in the end we may be hit harder. Anyway, they should be closer to herd immunity than the USA.

But they are both being hit much harder by the second wave than their neighbors. They clearly have little to no herd immunity. How is this possible?

Other Coronaviruses have immunity lengths from 6 months to a few years. They do not have long immunities, like many other viruses. We would expect Covid-19 to fit somewhere in that range.

And we are not sure how rare it is to get Covid-19 twice. Many patients have a bout of it, which clears up, and comes back. That could be two infections, or one that got better and worse. The only way to know for sure is to compare the genomes of the first and second infection, and find they are different. That is extremely rarely done, so it is extremely rarely known. That does not mean it is extremely rare.

Finally, we all talk about immunity, but there is a counter immunity. Coronaviruses tend to make people more susceptible to new infections. It is possible that Covid-19 will do this, and if you get it once, it is MORE likely you will get it again.

Covid seems like it could possibly be like a deadly version of the common cold--in that case, there is no herd immunity--ever.
At best, effective treatment may be developed without actual immunization possible.
Or else it could just end the world--no biggie the way the world has been going.

It hasn't faded in Europe, and they did not have a trump election. It is getting worse in Russia, and they already had their election.

    Depends who wins lol.

If Biden wins and his Magic COVID Wand proves impotent, Trump will be blamed for it and/or the News Fakers will bury it.

If we were close to herd immunity, as you claim, then the spread would be falling quickly. We are not seeing that.

See it's people like you that exemplify the low IQ opioid addict characterization of the right. Educated smart people called her immunity just another name for mass murder. you are neither educated nor smart so you wouldn't know that but now you do.
