After lengthy hearings the Senate committee voted unanimously to bring Barrett's nomination out of committee to the floor for a full vote. After all Senators had the opportunity to address their colleagues with their view, the Senate held a full vote and the tally was YEAs: 52, NAYs: 48.

Everything went according to the Constitution of the US. I take it you were given some different, erroneous account of events.
