Default Energy Policies, Biden and Trump

I watched the second debate. Among other things, I was interested in what they had to say about their energy policies.

On the issue of fossil fuels:

    - Trump’s policy boils down to this:
    >ignore the negative effects of burning fossil fuels on the environment
    >rely heavily on fossil fuels for the duration
    >frack it, dig it, and drill baby drill it forever

    - Biden’s policy boils down to this:
    >acknowledge the negative effects of burning fossil fuels on the environment
    >rely on fossil fuels until we can gradually transition away from them
    >transition “fossil fuel” jobs to “renewable energy” jobs

During the explanation of his policy, Biden said that he would “transition away from the oil industry.” I saw the smug expression on Trump’s face when Biden said that. It was like he just struck gold. He then proceeded to TWIST Biden’s words into something that he did NOT say. He FALSELY accused Biden of saying that he is going to destroy the oil industry. And then Trump said, “Will you remember that, Texas? Will you remember that Pennsylvania? Oklahoma? Ohio?”

And then I said, “Oh no! Good move, Trump. Do-the-Con strikes again! I hope your con doesn’t work.” He tried to make Biden (who OBVIOUSLY has a MUCH broader, and a MUCH deeper, understanding of the complexities of the energy issue, than he does) look like a dangerous fool on that issue. And he managed boil-down Biden’s energy policy, a policy of SUBSTANCE and DETAILS, into ONE DECEPTIVE sound bite.

That’s what Trump is good at. He can look at substance and details that are COMPLETELY over his head, and he can somehow boil it down into a single deceptive sound bite. It’s a magical gift that he has.

But who is the REAL dangerous fool on the energy issue? Let’s look at a few facts:

    - According to the VAST MAJORITY of scientists AROUND THE WORLD, the burning of fossil fuels is causing SERIOUS man-made climate change. And they say that climate change could be an EXISTENTIAL THREAT to life as we know it.

Biden’s energy policy addresses climate change. Trump falsely claims that climate change is a Chinese hoax, and his policy COMPLETELY ignores it. Bottom line: If the scientists are right, then Trump is the dangerous fool on climate change.

    - One of the MANY things that Trump does not understand about our world is that fossil fuels are a VERY LIMITED resource. According to the scientists, this resource could be depleted in a little over 50 years. If these scientists are right, TODAY’s kids will see the DEPLETION of fossil fuels. This “Great Depletion” will be HORRIFIC, especially if we’re NOT prepared for it.

Biden’s energy policy addresses this depletion. Trump’s policy COMPLETELY ignores it. Bottom line: If the scientists are right, then Trump is the dangerous fool on depletion.

So, what will it be? Will it be four more years of a dangerous fool who has an aversion to science, and who is implementing energy policies that are leading us into DS? Or will that fool be replaced by a man who believes in science, and who will implement energy policies consistent with science?

    - error: Do-the-Con strikes again!
