Please define what "meaningful fruit" means to you in terms of society or government legislation. Obviously the term means generating something positive, but you are implying specific things. What things?
FWIW, some time back Steven used a certain phrase. I asked him what it meant in his own words, not something copy'n'pasted. Not something I could Google on the Internet. Something that he had to generate himself. He couldn't do it. Why?

There's no option for my bill didn't change at all... I hate your poll.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
- -- The Buddha
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Free will doesn't change anything. In your free will you could use school children for sniper practice, or whatever you want. It doesn't change society's rules or religious rules. As far as suicide goes, it's a defiance of Christ entirely, the equivalent of spitting on his and others sacrifices and struggle.

Agreed with your extreme example but disagreed with your "spitting" interpretation.
What if your "free will" violates every Ten Commandment except "Thou shalt not kill"? Aren't all within the Constitution? If so, why? It's obvious: FREE WILL. People can do whatever they like except harm another. I'm good with it.
The only thing being "spit" upon is your specific view of a book obviously written and interpreted by mankind, not God.
