Default How are you Coping with Covid?

How are you coping with COVID? How has the COVID pandemic affected you personally?

Thankfully, it's been much milder in my life than the lives of friends and family. We only go out once a week as opposed to 2-3 times, now usually timed with medical appointments unrelated to COVID and see family less. As such, by spending less my savings have shot up 200-300%. Good for me but bad for business owners.

We shut down for a good part of the summer when it hit Florida as hard as it did. But in general, I'm still doing many of the same things, just with modified behaviors. When restaurants here were at 50% capacity and you could sit outside, we went out to eat once in a while, but that's over now, so we won't go near the restaurants. Too crowded with no mask Trumptards. Still going to the movies, theaters at 50% with recliners feel safe to me, especially with the mask police keeping an eye on things. We've gone a few times to Universal, but not on the weekends, again, too crowded. But no gatherings, less frequent trips to see her family, because they are totally mask deniers. I think the winter is going to be VERY bad everywhere though, and I'll probably have to go into hibernation again.

Once again we gavw up the hope and prosperity of two entire generations to keep Boomers comfortable for a couple ywars. Not that they care or are even grateful.

Before I retired, my job allowed flexible workdays and I always chose being off in the week and avoiding the weekends. Pretty easy since all those with kids or singles looking to get laid wanted Fri-Sun. The reason I liked having M-W or T-Th off was for the reason you mentioned: less crowds everywhere, pandemic or not.

Nothing much has really changed other than not going out to eat as much. I will say side work has picked up. I guess some people just don't want to go out and do it in this 'thing.' Or, it might be that the government is paying them better to not work...

That is exactly what it is. There are many jobs out there not being filled.

A bill passed in May that gave far more than $300. McConnell and the Conservatives refused to vote on it. Instead, they rushed to confirm a SCOTUS judges. They'll pay at the polls in 8 days.

Why do you care? Or is it that your unemployment check is just unsatisfying without that extra $300 bucks in it?
