"THIS BOZO'S GOING TO GET US ALL INDICTED"

Obama vowed to remain neutral during the primary.

But the former president had at least one strong personal investment in the race: ensuring his ex-veep doesn’t tarnish his own reputation.

As the New York Times[/I] reported, Obama took an active interest behind the scenes in Joe Biden’s campaign—not, it seems, to help his former vice president, but to shield himself.

Obama counseled Biden several times before he entered the race, and the former president “cast doubts” about the pending campaign.

“You don’t have to do this, Joe,” Obama told Biden, the Times reported. “You really don’t.”

After Biden entered the race anyway, Obama began pushing to ensure Biden didn’t “embarrass him” or “damage his legacy,” per the report.

Biden’s also drawn frustration and concern over his frequent gaffes.

His blunders, along with renewed scrutiny of his decades-long record in Washington is turning off some in his own party, particularly in the progressive wing.

His verbal flubs on the 2020 trail have even led allies to suggest he curtail his public appearances.

But just as he brushed off Obama’s concerns, he failed to heed that advice.
