We need government to help propel these technologies. It's no different than when the government built roads for cars at the turn of the 20th century. The government can subsidize companies to build charging stations across the country and subsidize car companies to build more electric cars. And since Republicans love giving large companies tax breaks and other forms of free cash, the GOP base will go along with it.
