    Default Netflix Cancellations Spike 800%

JOE REACTS TO THE NEWS THAT HIS FAVORITE MOVIE'S PLATFORM IS IN TROUBLE

Netflix's subscriptions plummeted and cancellations increased by 800 percent following the release of the controversial French film Cuties, it has been reported.

Data unearthed by two analytics firms indicate that there was a sharp uptick in the number of people who canceled their subscriptions around the same time that calls were growing for a boycott of Netflix over its airing of Cuties.

Antenna, a data analytics firm that tracks Netflix subscribers, reported a 'meaningful spike in churn rate' shortly after the hashtag #CancelNetflix went viral.

In mid-September, Antenna noted that Netflix was losing five times as many subscribers in the days after the release of Cuties than the company lost in the previous month.

On Wednesday, Netflix sent a letter to its investors saying that it fell short of its subscriber goal last quarter.

There are two problems with Netflix:

    1) They keep raising the price

    2) They fund so much crap, they make so much crap content that it is clear that they are not even trying for quality.

After awhile using Netflix makes me feel complicit in the creation of crap.

Yeah, they are going out of business next week, just like the NFL, what was it, two years ago, we saw the same foreboding projections for the NFL, NBA last year

Netflix looks more and more like a Ponzi scheme, they keep adding tons of debt which might work of they were buying something of quality that people are going to want to watch in five or ten years, but that is not what they are doing.

I was reading that millennials and younger especially spend a lot of time watching crap ( I know shocking right?)....I think that marketing experts told Netflix that crap is fine as long as once in awhile they make some good stuff.

That plan does not work with me....I have been watching Netflix less and less for a good 6-7 years.

I spend most of my time on Amazon Prime now.

I don't need Netflix. On-the-air TV gives me all I need.

Thanks for the link: Netflix sent a letter to its investors saying that it fell short of its subscriber goal last quarter. In the three month period which ended on September 30, 2.2 million global subscribers joined Netflix. Those results were a sharp drop from the first two quarters of this year when Netflix added 16 million and 10 million subscribers respectively

FWIW, "800%" sounds big but if the average increase in bread is 5 cents and then one year it shoots up to 40 cents, that's an 800%.

Their stock value is fine. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/NFLX/

Notice that it's always the same handful of subjects for a month or two. If it's not this, it's Hunter Biden or Sleepy Joe.

The one bright spot with Netflix has been the foreign stuff, a lot of countries are demanding that Netflix meet quotas for the percentage of the content offered in their country that is made local, which sometimes they offer to Americans as well. Hollywood is such a disaster now, these tiny films made in places like Australia and Argentina are often a breath of fresh air....good movies made for thinking adults by people who care about the art....Anti Hollywood.

How the fuck do you get that? It's like saying buying a hamburger at McDonald's is a Ponzi scheme. If Netflix collapsed, someone else would fill the niche.
