Let's say that the story is about sexuality. What were they trying to do to angels?

Do Repubs remember when they chose not to be gay? Was it a tough decision? Most of us are just continuing life as we were born. I guess some make a serious and conscious decision to be hated and abused their whole lives. They seek discrimination and religious people are happy to provide it.
    Bingo!

Unless they are making a choice (something I've never done)...I do not understand why they are so insistent that it is a choice.

In any case, why would anyone "choose" to be homosexual...and take all the shit that comes one's way with that "choice."

The entire "It is a choice" or "It is a preference" thing is crap.

No, moron. He wants to know how abrogation this particular law affects people who are not gay.

Laws have different rationales. This one's rationale is formed in theology and judgment of sin. It cannot be compared to speed limit,
or tax evasion, or theft. Their rationales do not logically depend of theology, they depend on the fact that they make people safer, and create fairness
in public finance, and respect for the individual right to own property.

Your inability to distinguish made you make an absurd statement like "eliminating the rule of law." Like ALL republicans, you are patently inferior
and entirely incapable of rational discourse. You can NEVER defeat a liberal in argument because you are stupid, can't marshal facts, can't apply facts
to rules, have no moral compass and are superstitious and oblivious like the total moron you are, to the precepts upon which your dumbass tapestry of prejudices
    derive, fucking loser fool.

But you do choose to be Christian.

There's an old saying "Republicans believe everything is genetic except homosexuality. Democrats believe nothing is genetic except homosexuality."

Agreed it's not a choice. We can only choose our actions, not our desires. IMO, the basis of the RW anti-homosexuality comes from Evangelicals and the Bible. This never happened in the Republican party until the Moral Majority was given a controlling seat at their table. Like climate change, Moral Majority Republicans are rationalizing their choice of political agenda by using pseudoscience and heated rhetoric.

Meh. The Church is nothing but a business. They're only accepting of homosexuality now because mainstream society is. They changed their view on slavery for the same reason. It's all about business.

Yep. Religion is 100% a business that traffics in an intangible product (faith).

    They should be taxed.

    Yup...on both counts.

Lots of the teachings attributed to Jesus make sense...and seem to be a basis for a decent personal philosophy. I attempt to incorporate them into my personal philosophy, although I miss the mark quite often.

It is still an endorsement by a person that has a lot of influence; a lot of people look to the Pope for guidance.

The right seems to cede its morality and focus to extremes much too often.

We need a reasonable conservative party to keep the left in check...to balance the adjustments reasonably, so to speak.

But we cannot allow the GOP to be that party, because the GOP has gone bat-shit crazy.

I disagree. The Church has not changed its view. Francis has...and is trying to sell it to the Church. I hope he succeeds.

The teachings of Jesus, whether real or contrived, are valid and deserve following.
The old Testament is completely insane, but the Gospels, even if they're made up, have something to say.

Too bad that the religions that they spawned are so fucked up.

Religion....is the opiate of the people. Karl Marx, 1848

    They should be taxed.
In many instances, they should be flogged.

I doubt we will see them taxed or flogged any time soon.
