A methane molecule is actually MUCH smaller than 111 microns (it is even smaller than a nanometer), so it's even much smaller than the size of a covid virus.

However, the main point being made here (by the kids, and yourself) is absolutely correct. A covid virus is ~100 nanometers (or 0.1 micron), and a mask rated for particles of size 3,000 nanometers (or 3.0 microns) or larger is not going to stop it.
