If Trump has a narrow lead in some States, and then they start counting mail-in ballots, which begin to erode Trump's lead, he will claim they are illegitimate ballots and insist on tossing out the delayed count, insist on going with the election night results. The longer this goes on, the more controversy it generates. It could quickly devolve into crowds outside the facilities doing the counting, and violence. All of it playing right into Trump's hand.
