"In November 2013, Senate Democrats led by Harry Reid used the nuclear option to eliminate the 60-vote rule on executive branch nominations and federal judicial appointments, but not for the Supreme Court. In April 2017, Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell extended the nuclear option to Supreme Court nominations in order to end debate on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch."
Dems should have never set that precedent. It came back to haunt them. Republicans were "forced" to use it on SC nominees because the Democrats were blocking the nominee.
Republicans first threatened to use it when the Democrats were blocking Bush's appointments.
The point of having the majority is to achieve the goals of your side. Both sides use the same tactics when necessary--it is not any more unethical for one to use it than the other. Only partisan bias pretends one side is more justified than the other.

Normally, this would be a yawner for me. If harris wins... [...not], she'll appoint another blatant lefty activist judge whom I will also despise(for the opinions, not personally, I didn't know RBG). But if I was Trump, I would put up an appointee immediately. First, it would be progress against the left going to the SCOTUS every time they feel butt hurt. Second, just because it would be a stick in the eye to the left in general. And third, revenge for Brett Kavanaugh. The left is going apeshit in America right now, they need a timeout and a reality check.

If I end up banned soon we all know what happened.
I choose my own words like the Americans of olden times........before this dystopia arrived.
DARK AGES SUCK!
When Scalia died a year before the election, Republicans refused to even have a vote, even though there was more than enough time. I see no way for there to be a vote now.
Covid-19 is still going strong in America. Only a delusional poster would say it is over... Or that it is a flu.
