Well unis generally get paid for by student fees but travel costs and coach salaries are another matter. Sending 30 girls from Texas to Kentucky for field hockey gets expensive.

    It depends on the school.

It gets expensive especially when little to nothing is coming in to offset it. Stadiums don't get packed out for women's field hockey.

Yeah but as long as your are decent, you'll probably fill the stadium.

I say pay the marxist professors less. Way over paid.

You're going to have your regulars no matter the record. It's the same with professional sports.

Ever seen a baseball stadium with lots of empty seats because the team sucks?

Many times they are paying to multiple coaches, just one is making the most. In a case 6 cases, the coach had such a good deal that he continued to be the highest paid, even though he is a former coach.

Now I can understand spending taxpayer money on a professor to teach engineering. I can even understand spending taxpayer money on a athletics program that is open to any student who just wants to be healthier. I certainly support a private team spending whatever they want on a coach in sports meant to entertain us. But why should taxpayers be forced to pay for sports entertainment?

I have not changed my position questioning whether paying coaches millions of dollars out of taxpayer money is a reasonable position based on who is President. The President does not control what states spend on college football. It is an entirely different level of government.

I don't blame trump for any of this.

Oh....I wasn’t going to bring this up but yes, most coaches are quite conservative in their politics when they allow that part of their beliefs to slip out. Quite a contrast to most professors. So I really like your comment there.

Do you have any idea how much money a good research department brings in? And that is full on profit, because they pay overhead on every grant.

All the talk of secession in another threat gives me an idea. We could have universities without football teams, and football teams without universities.

Yes. Pitt and Detroit had pretty empty baseball stadiums near the end of last year.

Guarantee football brings them more money. Sure get rid of college football. The schools will be the ones paying the price.

Good to see you’re continuing with your false claim that it’s taxpayer money covering football coaches salaries.
