Default Is Paying $9 million To a Football Coach Really a Good Use of Taxpayer Money?

Ever look at a list of the highest paid state employee in each state? Well in 40 of them the highest paid state employee is a football or basketball coach. The other ten states have deans of medical schools making $250k, but the states with coaches making the biggest amount of money are paying millions, even over $9 million. Many times they are paying to multiple coaches, just one is making the most. In a case 6 cases, the coach had such a good deal that he continued to be the highest paid, even though he is a former coach.

Now I can understand spending taxpayer money on a professor to teach engineering. I can even understand spending taxpayer money on a athletics program that is open to any student who just wants to be healthier. I certainly support a private team spending whatever they want on a coach in sports meant to entertain us. But why should taxpayers be forced to pay for sports entertainment?

Warren was paid about $200k a year, not $600k as you claim. Harvard is a private university, and they decide how much to pay their law school professors.

The reason for this is that college sports are a huge revenue generator. These coaches get paid to pack the stadiums not produce good college graduates...

Pay players and forget the charade. Basically the college coaches recruit pros, are pro farm leagues and the money the coach gets
for cutting corners and funneling money from shoe companies is sent in briefcases to family members of athletes aka is siphoned off the money the top NCAA athletes could make.

    Scamola.....

Republicans won't get this. Too stupid.

I am just saying why does the government have to pay Coach James Franklin $5.7 million?

I will say that it is good to see the coaching staff at UPenn not molesting children anymore.

If it is so profitable, why does the government have to do it?

Even a dumb Trumfuck should see that the amateur thing is absurd, proven by your own admission.
"these" coaches are a select 40 of the 300 some division one schools in solely basketball and football.

If the real talent were compensated, those salaries would be pared down.

Why should the government enforce a guild that enriches a few recruiters and strategists while the talent we watch get nil under the guise amateur?

These coaches recruit by selling the dream of NFL and NBA, where they do actually get paid for their work.

I'm sorry you don't enjoy and respect the game....
Perhaps you shouldn't worry about the salaries...most people don't....

How many high school players have KY UNC Louisville Kansas, Uconn, MI State, UCLA defrauded by blowing smoke up their asses telling their parents their kids
are the next MJ GOAT? Easily 10,000 humans that can't now get employed for data entry after having a cup of coffee in the Israel pro leagues.

    It's a fucking scam..

The excuse used is that profits from the mens football programs funds a huge chunk of the athletic department plus helps with donations from alumni.....that has never worked for me when the business of the university is supposed to be education and as we have watched them go to very low paid labor for teaching.
This illegal illegitimate regime that runs America is at fault...not me.... they do not represent me and I have long objected to their crimes against humanity.

Agreed. It's a marketing strategy for the state. As a state taxpayer I'd want to make sure competent oversight of the spending justified the cost.
