Market wages would be lower since many jobs that pay at least $7.25/hour are worth much less based on the skills needed.

Shows you don't think. Many jobs the government tells an employer has to be paid at $7.25/hour aren't worth that on the open market?

Nothing fascist or scrooge-like for the one doing the paying to determine what someone doing a certain job should be paid.

You support the government mandating a minimum. That's fascist.

If a owner thinks the job is worth less than min. wage, then he should do it himself. It obviously has almost no value.

Fascism involves the government forcing their will on the people. In this case, business owners.

Not always true. For example, when Arizona increased the minimum wage with no exceptions a number of companies that employed the severely handicapped had to go out of business. These companies employed severely handicapped people to do things like stuff envelopes and other simple tasks. They paid less than minimum wage previously as allowed by law. This allowed them to retain full disability benefits.

The workers complained that they were losing their jobs and that they really loved having one that gave them a sense of self-worth. They knew they were unable to do more and were doing something not worth minimum wage but in their view they got to go to work, do something productive, contribute, socialize with others and felt their job improved their life. The Leftists pushing mandatory higher minimum wages didn't consider that.

Go to McDonald's today and the counter help is down to one or two people. The workers were replaced with:

It must be miserable knowing that the only way you can make more than you're worth is for the government to force your employer to pay you $7.25/hour for sweeping floor, emptying trash, and cleaning shit off toilets.

A typical welder in my area might make $16-$20/hr. Mechanics are in a similar range. I make the equivalent of about $28/hr right now at a medium-sized company in a position that required no schooling.

Depends on what type of welding and what you're capable of doing as a mechanic.

Amazing what unions do to get an unskilled, uneducated worker like you more than he's worth.

    The truth isn't an insult.

You must live in a shithole if welders make only $16-20/hour. Perhaps you should have moved to Alaska. The median wage for welders there is $34/hour.
