Actually, most of those 'Off Grid Build' episodes are people with enough wealth to have a second home in the woods, not a primary residence. If it's just a get-away place and they want to assume the risk then they should have that freedom. It's the ones that put everything into it and make it the primary that are setting themselves up for great loss.

What's worse are all the ones who have to have waterfront as the primary, just daring mother nature to flood or toss a hurricane on over. Does the insurance cost really reflect that risk? I know they pay more, but isn't everybody paying a bit more to cover part of their risk? I mean, we all fund FEMA. And every time there's another big destructive weather crisis, FEMA comes in with billions. It even happened in Puerto Rico now that Trump needs more votes to try to carry Florida...

Yes, my point exactly.. No additional monies or lives should be spent protecting "their" property built in areas naturally prone to "wild fires"..

I agree, as they are doing in New Jersey....... Those ppl bitch & moan till the government, aka you & I & the others here pay for their stupid fuckin mistakes of building a house on sand, on a beach prone to storms....

Their house, their insurance, their loss........

But not the arsonists running around setting fire to everything? You want us to believe it's climate change causing wild fires?

We'll make up a global disaster to blame someone else. It's so predictable I'd be shocked if they actually took responsibility.

The climate change thing is about trying to undermine the petroleum industry. That's why electric cars are magically green despite the mining and refining of rare earth minerals.

Why would they want to undermine the petrochemical industry you might ask? Well it's because this industry represents 8%of gdp do big money and they donate to Republicans.

    So it's all about money.

A “potential connection” between anthropogenic global warming and the frequency or intensity of wildfires in California has yet to emerge in the trend observations.

Scientists have found a “lack of correlation between late summer/autumn wildfires” and “summer precipitation or temperature” in coastal California. In fact, “there is no long-term trend in the number of fires over coastal California” in the last 50 years (Mass and Ovens, 2019).

I'm starting to think if the govt has to bail out a property owner, then the govt owns the land and it never gets built on again. Becomes parkland. Simple - done. Won't have to bail it out again.

Ppl don't seem to realize that when they go out & stop a fire, they are not preventing fire, but prolonging it..

The north complex fire burning now in Northern Calif is an example..

The south complex burned a few years ago & they managed to get it out~now the rest is burning...........
Damocles posted a relevant study that said ...

"the best-available science suggests 4.4 and 12 million acres burned in California annually before the arrival of Europeans."

A natural forest has burn all over it, that is the natural order........

Since they can't let it burn since ppl have moved out there, the other alternatives are log them out, or let mother nature take care of it........

In 1988, Dr. James Hansen testified before the Senate that if we did not act in 12 years, the damage would be irreversible.

The ship you are talking about has already sailed and it sailed long before the President started his first campaign for President.

In truth, Obama promised that people would look back on his tenure saying that problem was no longer getting worse- that the healing had started.

    So... problems solved!

With the greatest respect, is there a web site maintained by "The Global Scientific Community"?

If you can link to that site, have they advanced a scientific hypothesis which clearly states the test to falsify their hypothesis on warming or climate change or whatever you believe they have said? A pull quote would be nice.

Please provide that link along with the pull quote.
