Default Goodbye Britain — UK to be a failed state, or non-existent

You can only use the word “deranged” so many times. The UK leaving the world’s biggest trading bloc was always imbecilic. Add the bungled COVID problems. Now, the UK is happily explaining how it will break international law.

It goes without saying that any future negotiations with the EU are already crippled, thanks to this stunning gaffe by Johnson’s cohort of clowns. Why negotiate with anyone who’ll simply ignore the terms of any agreement when it suits them?

The Northern Ireland land border is the only land border with the EU and the UK. The UK proposes to “disapply” (it’s barely even a real word) rules on movement of goods over the border. This is the effectively creating a law that they won’t enforce rules for whatever reason.

So the vital final negotiations are effectively over, if the UK doesn’t address EU objections to this blatant breach of an existing agreement.

    Then came Boris.
    So far:
    • COVID 19: The UK has the worst death rate in Europe, by far.
    • Brexit: Fiction disguised as policy disguised as sovereignty disguised as patriotism disguised as finding other people to blame for the mess.
    • Trade: There’s a very large hole where British trade used to be. There will be a very large hole until this mess is cleared up.
    • Revenue: Massive debts piling up, revenue base collapsing. What can you spend when you don’t have money?
    • Jobs: How, with an economy in multiple train wrecks at the same time?
    • Dominic Cummings: Who’s Cummings to anybody, and why? What’s he doing there? Who’s running Britain, Johnson or Cummings? Nobody has ever elected Cummings to any post at all, have they? Is it “Prime Minister Cummings”, yes or no, Boris?

    Failed state

Goodbye, Britain. There’ll always be an England, a Scotland, and a Wales, but not in those tiny little minds.

Boris Johnson is unusual in British history over the last 2000 years. Very few people could become the political leader of a country and then destroy it so completely without an actual war. It takes a unique individual to achieve such a fustercluck of absolute national disasters in just a year or so and look so pleased about it.

From Empire to pitiful remnant, from the madness of World War 1 to the decade or so of rationing that followed World War 2 to mindlessly destructive Thatcherism, it’s all been downhill for Britain.

The former UK leaders warn the Prime Minister that trust in the UK will take a major blow and he risks instability in Ireland if he pushes through his law-flouting Brexit bill

Brexit was an English thing, NOT a UK thing. The rest of the nation opposed it.

This simply means that the UK is similar to the US--an alliance of peoples who don't wish to be in alliance.

A nation which has Alabama, Mississippi, and Oklahoma under the same government as California, New York, and Massachusetts is not going to last even as long as the UK has lasted thus far.

Yugoslavia no longer exists because it comprised people who didn't want to be together,
Czechoslovakia no longer exists because it comprised people who didn't want to be together,
The Soviet Union no longer exists because it comprised people who didn't want to be together.

The writing is now on the wall for the UK and the US.

The writer of that op-ed is trying to befuddle you, guno. The dispute is about trade between one part of a sovereign nation (Britain) and another part (Northern Ireland).

As things stand, the masters of the EUverse could declare that any or all of that trade is destined for the Irish Republic, and impose tariffs on it, because (they would say) it's really Britain exporting to the EU. Can you imagine what the people of Northern Ireland would think of that?

That's what the British government is trying to prevent if the trade talks fail. Sadly, it appears they don't have 100% confidence that the EU would behave honorably if that happened.

Do you really think that's the likes of Guano, Moonshi'ite et al can even begin to understand that? That's way beyond their ken, what's really laughable is that both Germany and France just ignore rules when it suits them.

A bit rich!' Varoufakis says EU imposing rules on UK that even Germany and France ignore

YANIS VAROUFAKIS has hit out at "Barnier and the bureaucracy in Brussels" for trying to impose state aid rules on the UK that even Germany and France refuse to follow.

Whatever they are, the people of Orkney and Shetland are not notably Scottish. Did you know that Norman Lamont is a Shetlander? I didn't know that until a few days ago!

If they secede from Scotland "in the event of any future constitutional change" , they could take the North Sea oil revenues from their territorial waters with them. That would punch an even bigger hole in Scotland's public finance deficit, already the biggest in Europe.

An independent Scotland wouldn't have a hope in hell of joing the EU unless that law-abiding paragon ignored its own rules - which it has done in the past, of course, when convenience dictated.
