Ahh, but if what is true for me is also true for many others, true for society, then it becomes the commonly accepted truth.
It is your freedom to believe otherwise and our democracy depends on dissent. It is beneficial to constantly reexamine what is held to be true, to compare it to opposing views. There is value in reaffirming the things we hold to be true. If they stand up to scrutiny, then they are beliefs which can be taken to heart.
