It's always been a thing. People are only complaining about it now because they realized it can be used to attack white people.
The dreadlocks example is especially funny, since the first people to wear dreads were white.

Never gave it a thought. I wiki'd it for better understanding and still don't see it as a problem. Who's complaining about it and why?

I'm no expert here but I think it's been going on since the beginning of time like you mentioned. However I'd say in the past decade at least, in our new woke and far more P.C. world, there has been far more attention paid to it and negative repercussions for people deemed cultural appropriators. It's our new reality.

I get a little annoyed when people of Anglo-Saxon decent give their daughters traditional Russian names; Natasha, Sasha, Tatiana, Anya.

What is wrong with Sally, Henrietta, or Bertha!?

I have been hearing of it over the last few years & find most of it w/out merit........

It is simply how ppl~cultures evolve but there are cases of out right rip offs.......

Is there any better example than pat boone??

Personally I find the hair style as the biggest farse...... Especially as it relates to women........ Men to a lesser extent.

Style & colors change rapidly & it seems to me rather simple, TO LOOK GOOD.......... Look cool, pretty, cute=attractive etc etc etc......

That use to be a compliment if others emulate your style......

Is it wrong to like those names?? Those names are not exclusively Russian either are they?? Slavic perhaps but Russian??

In the Latin languages there are many names, pronounced slightly differently but are essentially the same name/root.. Example the name Genevieve...... Italian?? French?? English? Spanish? Scottish?

I have a coworker & her name is Tatiana-she isn't Russian..... Russian names are becoming more popular because ppl like them, not because they want to be Russian or even care....... Perhaps shallow but ppl like what they like, as any would be parent can attest, it boils down to a lot of that most of the time....

blacks have been looted over and over in the music world.

everyone stole little richards songs. he had a great attitude about it tho. he took it as a compliment and was just happy being unlynched. of course, he had to say that....

Yes, exactly and we should stop eating Chinese and Mexican food. Eat American! St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo must be discontinued as well in this country.
