I served as chair or a member of many hiring committees over forty years. One thing I learned is that there is no "best person" for the job. Sometimes every committee member voted for a different candidate. Also, we sometimes passed over more highly qualified or experienced individuals because we did not think they would take a job with our institution because they could get more money somewhere else. We would be wasting one of our choices to interview a candidate who would never take the job.

Sometimes that person we passed over might be a minority, but there was no discrimination based on race. In fact, it made them more valuable and more sought after by other schools. We would have loved to have hired them, but we knew there was little chance.

Well we knew how bad they wanted our particular job because they all participated in the "Match" for Residents. So what you are saying doesn't really apply with the selection in the "Match" its a part of the selection of programs for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The applicant lists his desired programs in descending order and programs list the residents that they are interested in having in their program in descending order. Then there is a computer algorithm that matches the programs to the resident. We frequently stepped over people that had higher academic and community accomplishments to select minorities preferentially. The Student will be offered their one best match only. When they participated in the Match they were obligated to take the program the algorithm selected for them.

Here is an example of what I am talking about. To get into Med School with a MCAT score of 24-26 and a GPA of 3.20-3.39 if you are white you had a 8.2% chance of being admitted to med school. If you are Hispanic you had a 30.9% chance and if you are black you had a 58.7% chance. The same type of thing happens in Residency programs.

My former business partner's mom was born in Mexico to Spanish parents (from Spain) his father was white. He was considered to be Hispanic. He did not look it. He got a interview offer from Harvard Medical School. Our Medical School in Texas gave him a 4 year scholarship because he was "Hispanic". He didn't interview with Harvard because he was a petroleum geologist and was doing oil exploration deals on the side while he went to Med School. So he wanted to live in Texas while he went to Med School.

She should be ashamed to denigrate black people by suggesting they cannot have the "things they want" without theft. Grabbing random items off a shelf is hardly the things most blacks want and it insults all the hard working black people who do not resort to looting to survive.
