    Ok, let’s think about this.

These young athletes can get COVID anywhere. Would you rather they get it and have free access to a cardiac MRI and be followed closely by team trainers and physicians—or get it somewhere else?

And let’s keep in mind ‘somewhere else’ isn’t so hot a place for many of these young people. So let’s think about that too.

The majority of these kids want to play football and the country can use a little ‘normalcy’—to put it mildly. If it were my call, I would press on with it and re-evaluate as the season progresses, if need be.

MacKnight said "the likelihood the individual goes on to have myocardial complication is very low" in athletes who had no or very low-grade COVID-19 symptoms, but added that there needs to be more studies and data.
Myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, has been found in at least five Big Ten Conference athletes and among several other athletes in other conferences, according to two sources with knowledge of athletes' medical care.

The condition is usually caused by a viral infection, including those that cause the common cold, H1N1 influenza or mononucleosis.

The article said 9% of sudden cardiac death in athletes is due to myocarditis.

    That part was buried.

See, you’re better off not knowing some of this shit lol.

Next time you jump in the pool after getting over a simple thing like a cold you’ll think ‘oh crap, what if my ticker stops from post-viral myocarditis??’

Same thing with me on the bike. Medical people joke about ‘knowing too much’. Get a little belly pain and wondering whether it’s something to do with the common bile duct or whatever. More than a few of them turn into hypochondriacs.
