Washington Red Tails: The history of a possible name for D.C.'s NFL team
This is the perfect name for the former Washington Red Skins?!! It honors some of the best fighter pilots of World War Two! I met one these Great Americans in 1996 at Vietnam Vet welcome home event! Got my picture taken with him too!

Sounds a little odd, mainly because we’re so accustomed to the team’s previous name. But “Red Tails” is one of the most popular names among the many under consideration for the Washington Football Team … and it has the best backstory, hands down.
The history of the Red Tails
The Red Tails were the nickname for the Tuskegee Airmen, a cadre of pilots based out of Tuskegee, Alabama, who achieved distinction in World War II. Their name came from the stripe of red paint along the planes’ tails, used for easy identification while in the air. Originally known as “the red-tailed angels” for their ability to protect bombers on dangerous flights over enemy territory, their handle was shortened to “Red Tails,” and it stuck.

There was a film about the Tuskegee airmen called Red Tails produced by George Lucas which was truly awful. You'd have thought that he'd have at least asked somebody about aerial warfare and not try to make a WW2 version of Star Wars. There was a far better TV film called the Tuskegee Airmen, made in 1995, which was far truer to real life. There is a truly wonderful film to be made from this but sadly teenage boys don't care for the truth only CGI action sequences.

I still prefer "Politicians." That way they have excuses for cheating, being the worst team in the NFL, having lots of millionaires on the payroll, pandering to any and all groups, persons, or corporations. The possibilities are endless.

Racist. Washington owned slaves and he's due to be cancelled. Also the Revolutionary War was a racist war since slavery was still permitted after we won.
Eventually that name would have to be changed .
