Question: What proof is being offered of their military background?

'Denman and Berr, both decorated former US military officers,'
Shouldn't be difficult to verify. Have you heard any US denials ?

That isn't proof, that's merely a claim without evidence. If it's easy to verify, then verify it. Lack of an official US denial means ZERO. It doesn't prove or disprove anything.
As for why I ask, it's because such claims are frequently made about "veterans" and when you dig into the facts you find the claims are all BS.

In this case, they are claimed to be ex-special forces. Which kind from what branch? There is a specific claim they were "officers." What was their previous rank?

Denman for example is 34. We can see that from the photo of his passport. That means the latest he could have joined the military was at age 26 since he'd had to have completed an 8 year contract to resign his commission completely. Officer-wise, if he did 6 active-- and it's highly unlikely he could have attended any of the special forces schools without extending over 4 years active, would make him at most a First Lieutenant or Lieutenant jg. The military typically wants those who go into special forces, like Rangers, SEALs, EOD, and the like to be career oriented and have first proven themselves for several years of service before entering those programs.
Where did Denman graduate from college? What degree(s) does he have? That is a requirement for becoming an officer entering the military directly for the first time.

Default Inside the Hell of Venezuelan Police Prisons

Those dickheads will need their commando skills just to survive in a Venezuelan Prison?!!

Inside the lockup of the Chacao district police station in eastern Caracas, a mass of prisoners stand shirtless against each other, struggling to breathe amid seething heat and the smell of sweat and feces. The cells here are built for 36 inmates to be held up to three days, before being released or transferred to a larger prison facility. But thanks to a profound crisis in Venezuela’s judicial system, it now holds over 150 prisoners, some who have been here for months or years. The number grows daily as more Venezuelans are arrested for crimes, including mugging, kidnapping and murder. In the most crowded cell, prisoners have no room to even sit down, and take turns resting on sheets tied to bars like hammocks.

Well, it is easy to verify.

Neither Denman nor Berry were "officers." Both served in the US Army in the 10th Special Forces Brigade between 1996 and 2013. Denman was a communications staff sergeant while Berry was an engineer with the rank of staff sergeant. Their exact length of service with that unit versus their entire time in the US Army is unknown.

An old ID card Denman was apparently still carrying.
